Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog was hurt in early January, and head coach Jared Bednar talked about whether he'd be able to play in the Olympics for Sweden next month.

The Colorado Avalanche lost captain Gabriel Landeskog again to an injury in early January after he crashed into the boards against the Florida Panthers.
Whether or not Landeskog is able to play in the Olympics for Sweden is another matter, and based on the latest from Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar, it's going to be close.
Bednar discussed whether or not he thinks that captain Gabriel Landeskog will be able to play in the Olympics while also saying that he's been working out and getting closer to a return.
Getting better. He's doing more and more in the gym, he's hitting the ice now, he's still limited a little bit, he's sore. Time will tell, but the goal would be for him to be able to go play for the Olympics. And he's still targeting that.

He really wants to play and I really want him to go play. There's always a little bit of nervousness when you got players going that maybe aren't fully healthy, but he'll do the right thing and I'm really hoping that we can watch him in the Olympic tournament because it's something that he really wants to do, play for his country again, he's earned that, with his season. Hopefully everything works out, but it's going to be tight. - Jared Bednar
So far this year, Landeskog has 22 points (7G, 15A) in 41 games.

Gabriel Landeskog Came Back To The Avalanche Last Spring For The First Time In Three Years

Landeskog, who hadn't played since winning the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022, returned for the first time in three years last spring in the postseason.
He had undergone arthroscopic knee surgery and, later, a cartilage transplant surgery. After a short conditioning stint with the American Hockey League affiliate Colorado Eagles, Landeskog played his first NHL game in April of 2025 against the Dallas Stars.
In 779 career NHL games, all in an Avalanche sweater, Landeskog has 593 points (255G, 338A).
