The San Jose Sharks have an incredibly bright future, and now it appears as though they're interested in young Maple Leafs winger Nick Robertson.
Nick Robertson's future in Toronto has seemingly been
up in the air for quite some time, and with the 2025/26 regular season approaching, it's still unclear just how long he'll be with the Maple Leafs.
After going to arbitration, Robertson has one-year left remaining on his deal, and if the Maple Leafs aren't looking at him as a long-term piece of this organization, then it makes sense for them to move on now while he still has some value.
San Jose Sharks Among Western Conference Teams Eyeing Nick Robertson
Given that he's still just 24-years of age, it's no surprise that there's trade interest in Robertson around the league, and while no team has stepped up to make a deal yet, there are teams reportedly looking to get a deal done.
One of those teams is the San Jose Sharks, according to NHL Insider Cam Robinson, who reveals they're one of several Western Conference teams in pursuit of Robertson as they look to add to an incredibly talented young core led by
Michael Misa,
Macklin Celebrini,
Will Smith and others.
It's unclear just how forward they've been in discussions with Toronto about Robertson, or even if those discussions have taken place yet, but with a need for young depth and the 24-year old wanting an opportunity, this could be a match made in heaven.
Last season, Robertson posted 15 goals and 22 points in 69 games played, and now he's seeking a bigger role, so if Toronto can't offer him that, then perhaps the Sharks would be the perfect landing spot for the former second-round draft pick.
