On Saturday, Chris Tanev was stretchered off the ice after a collision, and now the Toronto Maple Leafs have given a positive update on his status.
Saturday was a big game for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and against a very competitive Philadelphia Flyers team, they came up big, winning 5-2 as they put on a show.
Unfortunately, there was some bad news too, as veteran defenseman Chris Tanev collided with an opponent from behind in what was a very scary scene where he was eventually
stretchered off the ice.
Maple Leafs Share Positive Update On Chris Tanev
Thankfully, less than 24 hours later, the Toronto Maple Leafs have shared a very positive update, revealing he was taken to hospital as a precaution, and has now been released, returning home to Toronto.
The Maple Leafs announced today that defenceman Chris Tanev was evaluated overnight in Philadelphia for precautionary purposes, has been discharged this morning, and will return home to Toronto.
The Maple Leafs next play on Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and while it's unclear what Tanev's status is moving forward, if there's any player in the NHL that would try and play two days after being stretchered from the ice, it's Chris Tanev.
As of right now, we await a further update on his status and his condition moving forward, but after the incredibly scary scene on the ice on Saturday night, it's safe to say that he could be out for a few days or even a few weeks as a precaution.
This season, Tanev has just two assists across eight games, with the Maple Leafs being 6-5-1 through their first 12, and while it's not clicking as of right now, if they do want to be a threat in the East, Tanev needs to be on the ice, so we will wait for an update on his status moving forward.
