Top Flyers forward likely done for the season after surprising arm surgery
The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a surprise start in 2025/26, but now they've suffered a brutal blow as Tyson Foerster is set to miss the remainder of the season.
After a few down years, the Philadelphia Flyers showed some flashes a season ago, and in 2025/26, they've put themselves in a good position through 32 games, posting a record of 17-9-6 to this point in the season.
There's been plenty of ups and downs, but given their blend of youth and experience, it's easy to see why optimism was so high, and then on Wednesday, they were dealt a brutal blow that nobody saw coming.
Tyson Foerster to miss the next five months
On Wednesday, the team took to social media to officially announce that young winger Tyson Foerster has successfully undergone surgery on his arm on Monday, and given the timeline of a five-month recovery, it's more likely than not that he's done for the 2025/26 campaign.
This is a major blow for the Flyers, as Foerster has become a consistent part of their forward group over the past few seasons, and after a career high of 25 goals, they were hoping for big things in 2025/26.
In 21 games played this season, Foerster tallied 10 goals and 13 points, but unfortunately, his promising start to the season is now all but over as the team will need to find a way to replicate his production in the top-nine moving forward.
With their solid start to the year, there's still a chance that this team can make some noise in the Eastern Conference, and for Foerster, the hope likely is that he can get back to 100% and be ready for the 2026/27 season.
