Leon Draisaitl has brought up a major milestone in his career, and after scoring it on Stuart Skinner, fans on social media have voiced their opinions on it.
Recently, the Edmonton Oilers made the long awaited change in net that fans have been anticipating, as they acquired Tristan Jarry
in a deal that involved shipping out the highly disappointing Stuart Skinner.
Just a few days after the deal that sent Skinner to the Penguins, the two teams matched up on Tuesday night, and in a statement making victory, the Oilers put five goals past Skinner as they came away victorious 6-4.
Leon Draisaitl's celebration overshadowed by Skinner
One of those five goals resulted in Leon Draisaitl hitting a major milestone, as he tallied his 1,000th point in the National Hockey League in game number 824 with the Oilers.
Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of celebrations on the ice after the play, but one fan was quick to point out how sad things looked with Skinner in a Penguins jersey waiting nearby, watching the emotion his former teammates were going through.
Hockey is a business however, and this was the best move for the Oilers to make after Skinner's recent struggles, but fans can't help but feel bad given how he was treated during his tenure with the organization.
Ultimately, this was never going to be a clean split between Skinner and the Oilers, and while his teammates no doubt felt bad for him as do the fans, it was the right move to make, no matter how bad it looked as he had to watch his former teammates celebrate success.
