Islanders lose Bo Horvat to scary-looking leg injury
The New York Islanders lost forward Bo Horvat during their 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks at UBS Arena to a scary looking leg injury, and he did not return.
The New York Islanders beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 last night at UBS Arena, but it came at a steep cost with the loss of forward Bo Horvat.
Horvat was hurt when he fell to the ice while fighting for the puck with Ducks defenseman Drew Helleson, and limped off the ice toward the locker room and did not return.
The Islanders ruled him out for the rest of the game, but it looks like they may have avoided a worst-case scenario.
Per head coach Patrick Roy, Horvat is considered day to day with his injury, meaning that he didn't suffer any kind of ACL or MCL injury as replays showed may have been a possibility like what happened to teammate Kyle Palmieri.
So far this year, Horvat has 31 points (19G, 12A).
The Islanders Beat The Ducks 5-2 To Move To Third Place In The Metropolitan Division
The Islanders beat the Ducks 5-2, not an easy task considering what the Ducks have been able to accomplish this year under new head coach Joel Quenneville.
Captain Anders Lee was impressed with what his team showed during the game and all season long.
It does say a lot. We came in, we knew what was going on outside of us and all the change. New guys coming in. I think everyone's just come in and played their role. They've played hard.
We haven't had things get to us too bad. We haven't gone on too much of a slide or anything like that. I think we've just really stuck together in a big way. - Anders Lee

The Islanders next host the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow night at home.
