Kyle Palmieri was off to a solid start in 2025/26 with New York, but now the veteran is set to miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
The New York Islanders have been struggling for a number of years, but with some organizational changes and the arrival of a star rookie, this is a team that's quickly turned things around in 2025/26.
The story of the season thus far has been Matthew Schaefer, who has emerged as a top-10 defenseman in the entire National Hockey League, but beyond him, their veterans have truly stepped up.
With a record of 13-9-3 to start the season, the Islanders are right in the mix for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Eastern Conference, but unfortunately, they've now received some brutal
injury news.
Kyle Palmieri feared to have torn his ACL
During the Islanders latest game, veteran Kyle Palmieri
went viral on social media for a brilliant assist, but unfortunately, the team fear that on the play, the veteran tore his ACL.
This season, Palmieri has tallied 6 goals and 18 points in 25 games played, and given how valuable he is both on and off the ice, this would be a major loss for the Islanders, and one that they simply can't afford.
There's still plenty of optimism in the organization that their worst fears won't be confirmed, but given how things looked on the play, they are right to be worried, and if Palmieri does miss the rest of the season, it would be a loss that could potentially derail the remainder of their season.
It has been confirmed that Palmieri has torn his ACL, and will miss 6-8 months; meaning his season is over.
