Craig Berube blames officials after Maple Leafs lose to the Capitals
The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling mightily as of late, and after their latest loss, Craig Berube has made some major excuses, calling out the officials.
This season was expected to be another successful one for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but to this point, they've continued struggling as it appears this core group is not going to take them anywhere.
On Friday, things got worse for Toronto as they fell in a tough matchup against the Washington Capitals, with the team struggling to score once again as they continue to rank in the bottom third of the league in goals scored.
Craig Berube makes excuses for the Maple Leafs struggles
However, when asked about the team receiving no power plays in the game, Head Coach Craig Berube was quick to throw the officials under the bus, despite not directly saying it was the fault of the officials.
I don't think it is on us. We worked and competed. We had good offensive-zone time. That is the way it goes sometimes. I don't know what to say about it.
With the loss, Toronto now fall to 10-11-3 on the season, sitting in seventh place in the Atlantic Division, and with the pressure mounting on Auston Matthews, Craig Berube and the leaders of this team, something is going to crack soon for this organization.
Ultimately, a team that thrives on the power play like Toronto will always struggle if they're given no opportunities in a game, and whether that's the officials fault or not, there's no reason for Toronto to be as poor as they have been, and unfortunately for Berube, the officials aren't going to bail him and his struggling team out.
