New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes had a harsh message when asked what he would say to fans who are losing hope in their disaster of a season.
It has not been a good year for the New Jersey Devils, who barely made the playoffs last season and were immediately knocked out by the Carolina Hurricanes.
This year, they'd miss the playoffs if they were to begin today. They're in second to last place in the Metropolitan Division standings, and things don't appear to be getting better any time soon.
At 58 points, only the divisional foe Rangers are in a worse position, dead last with 50 points.
Devils forward Jack Hughes ruffled a few feathers when he was recently asked what message he'd have for the fans who are losing hope, saying that he's got nothing to say to them.
I honestly have nothing to say to them. For us as a group we just have to figure out a way to win more hockey games. - Jack Hughes
So far this year, Hughes has 36 points (12G, 24A) in 36 games played. He missed multiple weeks after a freak hand injury during a team dinner.
Devils Fans Are Not Going To Like Jack Hughes' Answer
Hughes was asked a legitimate question about the feelings of the fans, who are asked to pay good money in order to watch their club play.
For one of the team leaders, saying that he's not nothing to say to the fans in terms of easing their discomfort on how the season has gone is anything but a good look for him.
If the Devils are to return to the playoffs this year, they need to immediately begin winning games once they return to the ice in late February after the Olympics.
