Tonight, a new report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that a blockbuster deal between the Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken has fallen through involving Jason Robertson.

The Dallas Stars in recent days have been shopping restricted free agent Jason Robertson hoping to trade his rights to a team willing to sign him long-term.
Over the last several days, multiple teams have spoken to the Stars but to this point deals were not considered imminent.
However, a new report from Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that Robertson's camp was given permission to discuss an extension with the Kraken as the final step of a potential trade.
Friedman now says those discussions have hit a dead end with Robertson refusing to join the Kraken.

Jason Robertson turns down Seattle Kraken contract offer shutting down blockbuster deal

Friedman confirmed that the Kraken were given permission to negotiate with Robertson and he turned down a monumental contract worth nearly 15 million.
According to multiple sources, the Seattle Kraken were given permission by Dallas to talk to Jason Robertson, and offered him approximately $15 million per year on a eight-year deal - but the offer was declined.

Friedman expanded and revealed that the Kraken and Stars reportedly had a deal done involving Robertson in exchange for Seattle's seventh overall pick plus other assets.
It's believed the two teams had worked out some kind of trade before the permission was granted, apparently including Seattle's first-round pick - seventh overall in Friday's draft.
This report confirms a couple of things in regard to Robertson and his future.
First is the fact that the Stars are trying to move him and find a new home that is willing to give him a long-term deal.
Second, Robertson is looking to cash in and become one of the highest paid players in the NHL after now turning down 15 million per season.
It remains unclear whether the contract the Kraken offered was the problem or if Robertson did not like how he fit within Seattle's culture and lineup.
As more information is provided on Robertson's future and potential trades involving him ahead of free agency we will pass that news along to you.
