Sammy Blais has been a solid NHLer throughout his career, but now, he's been waived for the second time by the Montreal Canadiens.
The 2025/26 season has been an incredibly exciting one around the National Hockey League, but unfortunately, that's not always been a positive thing for every player in the league.
One such player is Sammy Blais, who was waived by the Montreal Canadiens earlier this year, and while he was claimed by the rival Toronto Maple Leafs, he was then picked up again by Montreal following the decision from Toronto to waive him.
Blais' rollercoaster ride continues
Now, he has to deal with this once more as the team have once again decided to waive the veteran forward on Tuesday, with NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman announcing the news on social media.
This comes after the 29-year old has appeared in 13 games for the team since returning, posting 2 goals, 5 points and a +4 differential in that time, while also spending several weeks in the American Hockey League with the Laval Rocket.
After he was claimed earlier in the season, it's more likely than not that a team will look to take him on again, and with a Stanley Cup and almost 300 games in the NHL under his belt, it's easy to see why he's a cheap, bottom-six option that could draw interest from teams.
As a depth piece, Montreal are certainly hoping that Blais can pass through waivers this time and remain with the organization, and given what he's been through this year, he likely does too, but with a great skillset, only time will tell if Blais draws interest from around the league or not.
