The Florida Panthers have been up-and-down early this season, and now they'll miss a key piece of their team due to unfortunate family circumstances.
After winning back-to-back Stanley Cups and reaching three straight Stanley Cup Finals, the pressure is mounting on the Florida Panthers as they look to make history and do something that hasn't been done since the 1980's.
However, their 2025/26 campaign has been off to a rough start, with injuries to
Aleksander Barkov and
Matthew Tkachuk among others stifling this teams momentum as they sit at 5-5 through 10 games played.
Perhaps the biggest driver of any success the Panthers have had this season is veteran winger Brad Marchand, who has posted 5 goals and 11 points in 10 games played, as he leads the team in both statistics.
Unfortunately, the team will be
missing him for their matchup with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, as Head Coach Paul Maurice tragically revealed that there was a loss in his family recently.
While it's a big loss for Florida, there is more to life than hockey for these players, and when something like this happens, it's always best to give the player the time and the space to grieve and deal with the tragedy in their own way.
As of right now, there's been no revelation about when Marchand could potentially return, with Maurice and the coaching staff likely letting Marchand need as long as he wants away from the team, with this story potentially set to effect the team for a few days if that's what Marchand needs.
