Adam Henrique trade chatter puts the Edmonton Oilers in a familiar cap squeeze, and his contract protection is the big hurdle.

The logic is straightforward. Edmonton needs cap space, and Henrique makes $3 million.
The catch is the clause. Henrique has a full no-move, so he would have to approve any trade.
That single detail changes the whole story. The Oilers can explore, but Henrique controls the exit.
Saturday's spark came from Karman Gill, citing David Pagnotta saying Henrique is «on the block.»
This reads like cap mechanics, not a hockey decision. Edmonton is trying to open room for a deadline add without weakening the core.
The tricky part is finding a partner that Henrique actually wants. Even if a team bites, the player still has to sign off.
Edmonton's record is 29-23-8, so there is pressure to act, but not enough room to make sloppy moves.

Adam Henrique keeps the Edmonton Oilers deadline options tight

Fans are already tense, because this is the same movie every year, cap math first, feelings second.
If Henrique waives, the return might be secondary. The real gain is the space it creates.
If he does not, Edmonton has to look for smaller exits, or keep running a tight roster until the deadline passes.
Either way, this is the cap squeezing the Oilers in public. The next few days will tell us whether Henrique is willing to help solve it.
