Even though his name has been swirling in trade rumours in recent weeks, Nashville Predators forward Steven Stamkos has made a surprising statement about his future with the team he signed with as a UFA in 2024.
The Nashville Predators are within striking distance of a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, though they could just as easily fall out of the race as they did in the early goings of last year before never being able to recover.
Naturally, there are going to be several players embroiled in trade rumours in the days leading up to the trade deadline, and one of them is Steven Stamkos.
Playing in his second year in a Predators sweater, Stamkos has more closely resembled his old self this season, but there's still a chance he could find himself in a new situation.
But that apparently isn't going to happen this year, as Stamkos has reportedly announced that he will not waive his no-movement clause in the contract he signed in 2024.
Obviously there's stuff that gets reported. But what I'll say, with this group, we want to be together. I can only control what I can control, but I love being here. - Steven Stamkos
Stamkos still has two years left on his year with an AAV (average annual value) of $8 million.

Stamkos was the face of the Lightning for many years after they took him with the first overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
He led them to consecutive Stanley Cups, and a third straight appearance in the Stanley Cup Final that fell just short.
During his time with the Predators, he's crossed the 600 goal plateau.
