Connor McDavid Hides From the Media After Historic Eight-Goal Loss Against Colorado
The Edmonton Oilers were humiliated by the Colorado Avalanche 9-1 on home ice, and captain Connor McDavid was nowhere to be found to speak to the media after the game.
The Edmonton Oilers suffered one of their most embarrassing losses in recent history, losing 9-1 to the Colorado Avalanche last night on home ice.
The last time they lost by that wide a margin was January 27, 2009, losing 10-2 to the Buffalo Sabres.
Connor McDavid, who scored Edmonton's only goal when they were already trailing 5-0, did not speak to the media after the embarrassing game.
The three Oilers players to speak to the media after their worst loss in 16 years: Jake Walman, Trent Frederic, and Andrew Mangiapane.
Considering that his team was just run off their own ice, McDavid should have been the first player to speak as he's the face of the franchise to explain what went wrong and how he's going to make sure it won't happen again.
The Oilers' Goaltending Issues Were Once Again Front And Center
Nobody on the Oilers played well, and it can be argued that the Oilers' defense left both goaltenders out to try.
Stuart Skinner started the game and allowed four goals on 13 shots, and was replaced by Calvin Pickard, who allowed five goals on 21 shots.
Oilers GM Stan Bowman caught plenty of flack from fans and analysts for not making a deal during the summer to get a better and more experienced goalie onto the team, and many thought that it could result in Connor McDavid leaving in free agency.
McDavid did decide to sign a two-year extension, and it will be up to Bowman to make the most of those two years.
