Jamie Benn suffered a brutal collapsed lung in the Dallas Stars pre-season matchup, and now Jim Nill has revealed the recovery timeline.
The Dallas Stars have been a powerhouse in the Western Conference in recent years, but with the team falling short of the Stanley Cup Finals over the past two seasons, they're looking to take the next step forward in 2025/26.
Earlier this off-season, the team
re-signed long-term captain Jamie Benn, as they believe he can still be a very effective player in leading this team as they look to finally overcome the Oilers in the loaded Western Conference.
Benn suffers brutal injury, will miss regular season action
Unfortunately, Benn's pre-season hasn't gone the way that he had hoped, as he suffered a
brutal injury in the team's latest game, with GM Jim Nill revealing the injury and the potential timeline for a return.
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that captain Jamie Benn will undergo surgery for a collapsed lung.
He was diagnosed with the injury late in the third period of Tuesday's pre-season game against Minnesota.
Benn is expected to make a full recovery and will be reevaluated in four weeks.
That means that based on the timeline, Benn is likely to miss the beginning of the regular season, but given how important he is, the organization would much prefer that than have this injury linger throughout the year.
Last year, the Stars captain posted 16 goals and 49 points in 80 games played, and while he's not the player he once was, he remains an incredible leader, and if he can get back to 100% this season, the team are confident in where he can take them.
