Blue Jackets place defenseman on waivers hours after signing Yegor Zamula

After they announced the signing of former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Egor Zamula, the Columbus Blue Jackets put defenseman Dysin Mayo on waivers, and he'll have 24 hours to clear, be claimed, or sent to the American Hockey League.
The Columbus Blue Jackets signed former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Egor Zamula not long after he was in hot water with the divisional foe for refusing to report to their American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
But now that Zamula is with the Blue Jackets, another defenseman has become expendable. The Blue Jackets announced that they've placed Dysin Mayo on waivers, and now he'll have 24 hours to clear, be claimed, or be sent to the American Hockey League affiliate Cleveland Monsters.
Mayo has appeared in just two games with the Blue Jackets so far this year and has one assist.
Dysin Mayo Is In His First Year With The Columbus Blue Jackets
Mayo was taken with the 133rd overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes, who are now known as the Utah Mammoth, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft while he was playing in the WHL for the Edmonton Oil Kings.
He would play the first several years of his professional career with Arizona's AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, before making his NHL debut 2021-22 with the Coyotes.
But he would eventually be traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in return for the contract of defenseman Shea Weber and a fifth round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
This past summer, he signed a one year contract with the Blue Jackets.
He has 13 points (4G, 9A) in 84 career NHL games.
