Nikita Nesterenko has been a solid performer as a sixth-round pick for the Anaheim Ducks, but now, the team have shockingly placed him on waivers.

The Anaheim Ducks have taken a major step forward in 2025/26, and while they've lost 10 of their last 12 overall games, they've still got a solid record of 21-18-3 on the season.
While they're in the playoff hunt right now, unless something changes, this entire season could fall apart, with the team likely to make a big shakeup to their lineup or to this roster soon.

24-year old forward placed on waivers

Now, the team have made one change, as they have officially placed former sixth-round draft pick Nikita Nesterenko on waivers after the 24-year old had appeared in 27 games for the team this season.
In that time, Nesterenko has posted 1 goal and 9 points along with a -2 differential, and after putting up 34 points in 50 AHL games for the San Diego Gulls a year ago, there was optimism that he could be a potentially key piece of this team one day.
However, despite these performances, the Ducks simply aren't pleased with the way he's played, and now, they're hoping that the 6-foot-2 forward can pass through waivers so they can reassign him to the American Hockey League.
This move alone isn't going to change things for the Ducks this season, but clearly he just wasn't cutting it for this team, but if they lose him and he goes on to major success elsewhere, it's safe to say that this is a move the team may end up regretting.
