Trade talks reportedly in progress for two Calgary Flames players

The Calgary Flames are off to a brutal start in 2025/26, and while the team have turned things around in recent weeks, they still currently sit just five points out of last place in the entire National Hockey League with a record of 18-20-4.

Unsurprisingly, that's led to plenty of trade speculation around this team, and with several key veterans to sell off that could lead to a major, successful rebuild, it's a matter of when, not if they join the NHL's trade market.

The three main players drawing interest for this team are Nazem Kadri, Blake Coleman and Rasmus Andersson, and with their struggles, it would be wise if they capitalized on a sellers market and moved all three.

Now, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has discussed the latter two on the latest edition of Oilers Now, revealing that while Coleman is yet to land the Flames a breathtaking offer, there's plenty more interest in Andersson, who is back to his best after a down season in 2024/25.

According to Friedman, there's immense interest in both, but as of right now, nothing concrete for Coleman, who is having another solid year all over the ice with 13 goals and 21 points in 42 games alongside a +13 differential for the struggling Flames.

As for Andersson, the interest is much, much stronger in him, who has 9 goals and 27 points in 42 games, and given the impact he makes at both ends of the ice, he could be just what a contender needs to take the next step in their Stanley Cup goals.

Ultimately, it's likely that both are moved, but with Andersson headed to the Olympics to represent Team Sweden, the team are much more motivated to move him, and could do so before the Olympic break.
