Some gruesome details of Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog's surgery has been revealed, and it shows just how dedicated that he is to the team to come back from such an injury.
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog continues to demonstrate that he's a complete warrior, and the latest injury that he's come back from is completely no joke.
He recently was hit with a slapshot of nearly 100 MPH and had to undergo surgery as he put it while also saying there was definite pain.
I took a 96-mile-per-hour slapshot to the [groin], and it hurt. So yeah, had a quick surgery to fix some things and we're good to go.
Despite the protection that the players wear, there's no way that Landeskog taking a hard shot to a sensitive area didn't cause some immediate pain.
Thankfully, it sounds like he's good to go since he's already back in action. The Avalanche avoided what could have been another disastrous scenario with their captain, who already returned from a near three year absence at this time last season.
Gabriel Landeskog Scored In His Return Against Washington
Landeskog scored today against the Washington Capitals, and head coach Jared Bednar talked about how big of a difference that Landeskog provides when he's able to play.
We needed a big goal in that situation. Marty comes up with the puck and finds Gabe. He just has a knack for making a play when you need it, whether it's on the offensive side or the defensive side.
Our record with and without him is significantly different. To get him back in the room first game after two weeks off and limited activity. We know his game will only get better. - Jared Bednar

So far this year, Landeskog has 30 points (10G, 20A) in 48 games played. He led the Avalanche to a Stanley Cup win in 2022.
