Trevor Zegras was unceremoniously dumped by the Ducks this summer, and now, he's revealed his celebration after a dominant win over the team.
Early in his career with the Anaheim Ducks, Trevor Zegras was flashing superstar potential with the young team, and given how the National Hockey League were marketing him, it was easy to see why the Ducks saw him as a key piece of their future.
However, there were major talks about the new GM of the team not liking him, and with the arrival of the likes of Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson, his role continued to diminish.
Then, in the summer, the team seemingly accepted a very low offer for Zegras, sending him to the Philadelphia Flyers in a shocking, but long-expected trade by Pat Verbeek.
Zegras lashes out at Anaheim following goal
Zegras got his first opportunity for revenge on Tuesday, and he took it in a big way, tallying two goals as the Flyers dominated Zegras' former team en route to a 5-2 victory.
After one of his goals, Zegras celebrated, and now, he's explained what that meant, revealing that it signified how quickly the Ducks hung up on him after calling to tell him he was traded, as the 24-year old clearly felt disrespected by the move.
On top of that, Zegras has had a much better season this year than the last two, racking up 17 goals and 41 points in 41 games played, and given the way he was treated by the Ducks over his past few seasons, it's easy to see why he put so much emphasis on that celebration.
