Los Angeles Kings veteran Corey Perry, who is playing in his first year with the team after coming over from the divisional foe Edmonton Oilers, is briefly stepping away due to a personal reason involving an ill family member.

Following their second straight unsuccessful trip to the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers, the Edmonton Oilers lost multiple players to either free agency or trade, and one of them was veteran Corey Perry.
Perry signed a one year contract to join the Kings, whom he has helped the Oilers beat twice in a row in the playoffs.
But Perry is stepping away from the Kings briefly to deal with a personal reason because of an ill family member, per Kings analyst Dennis Bernstein.

So far this year for the Kings, Perry has 21 points (9G, 12A) in 35 games played. He missed the first several games of the season because of an injury he sustained in training camp.

Corey Perry Is Playing In His First Year With The Los Angeles Kings

Perry was taken with the 28th overall pick by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 2003 NHL Draft, where he would play the first several years of his career, winning a Stanley Cup in 2007.
He's played for numerous teams since then, including the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks.
During that time, he's also become the first player in NHL history to advance to the Stanley Cup Final with five different teams, and the first player in NHL history to lose four Final series with four different teams.
He has 956 points (457G, 499A) in 1,427 career NHL games.
