The Canucks are looking to sell high on Kiefer Sherwood this season, and now, it appears as though a shock trade could be brewing with the Rangers.
The Vancouver Canucks entered the 2025/26 season looking to bounce back from a rough 2024/25 campaign, and while there's been some positives, the team have taken some major steps back.
Not only that, but they traded away their captain Quinn Hughes, and now, it appears very likely that the organization are looking to gauge interest in some of their most intriguing pieces.
Kiefer Sherwood linked to the New York Rangers
The player drawing the most attention for the Canucks has been Kiefer Sherwood, and after he posted a career high in goals with 19 alongside the single-season NHL record for hits, it's easy to see why teams would want that type of player in the lineup come the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
We've seen many players linked to the late blooming 30-year old, and now, Vince Mercogliano of The Athletic is reporting that the New York Rangers have been in contact with the Canucks and remain a team to watch in talks over Sherwood.
This season, Sherwood has put up 17 goals and 22 points in 42 games played, and given the two-way game, he remains one of the top wingers available heading into the 2026 trade deadline.
While Vancouver have reportedly offered him an extension, at this point in time, a trade is the most likely scenario, and with the Rangers looking to load up for a big second half in 2025/26, look for them to be aggressive in trying to acquire Sherwood.
