Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, who has been suspended multiple times in his NHL career, found out his fate after he injured Swiss forward Kevin Fiala.
Even though Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been fined and suspended multiple times in his NHL career, he won't be facing any discipline for the latest incident he was involved in.
He hit Team Switzerland forward Kevin Fiala during their recent game against Team Canada, resulting in a major injury that likely ended his NHL season.
But unlike several of his previous hits that have injured opponents, this didn't appear to be any kind of reckless action on Wilson's part and was rather just an unfortunate result of an awkward hit.
Not only will Switzerland have to trudge on without Fiala, but the Kings will have to as well.
Kevin Fiala's Season With The Los Angeles Kings Is Likely Over
Fiala suffered a devastating injury as a result of the hit from Wilson, which will keep him from playing in the rest of the Olympics and likely the rest of the NHL season.
His Kings teammate Adrian Kempe, who is playing for Team Sweden in the Olympics, said he feels bad for him.
Very obviously sad, and it sucks for him and for us. It’s really tough for him personally and for us as a team. You know how much he means to our team back home in L.A. It’s just very unfortunate for him that it comes in a tournament like this that we’ve been looking forward to playing in for so long. I feel for him. - Adrian Kempe
So far for the Kings this year, Fiala has 40 points (18G, 22A) in 56 games.
