Kevin Fiala suffered a brutal injury against Team Canada on Friday, and now his fate for the remainder of the 2025/26 season has officially been revealed.

Team Switzerland came into the 2026 Olympics full of hope, and while they're not done yet in group play, they were dealt a major blow when they fell 5-1 to Canada on Friday.
However, they were dealt a crushing blow in that loss when veteran forward Kevin Fiala had to be stretchered off the ice following a collision with Washington Capitals star Tom Wilson.

Kevin Fiala now officially out for the season

The latest update is not only a crushing blow to Switzerland, but the Los Angeles Kings as well, as Elliotte Friedman has now reported he will officially miss the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
According to reports, while the exact injury is unknown, Fiala is currently undergoing surgery and will be out until the summer, which is a major blow for a Kings team that had eyes on making a deep Stanley Cup Playoffs run this summer with Fiala healthy.
For the Kings this season, the 29-year old veteran has 22 goals and 18 points in 56 games played, and given how important he is to the teams top-six, this could at the very least force them to change their trade deadline plans, or at worst derail their entire campaign.
When this happened, it looked like a brutal injury that could cost Fiala some time this season, and now the worst has been confirmed, with Switzerland's chances taking a big hit in the Olympics and the Kings regular season hopes taking a major hit too.
