Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks linked in potential blockbuster offseason trade
Tonight, a new mock trade has surfaced centered around Vancouver Canucks star Jake DeBrusk heading to a division rival in the Edmonton Oilers.
The Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks have both made major organizational changes this offseason.
The Oilers fired head coach Kris Knoblauch while the Canucks fired their entire front office and coaching staff.
The Canucks then hired new GM Ryan Johnson and the Sedin twins to lead the organization into a new era.
Now, both teams are working to get back to Stanley Cup contender status and a new rumor has suggested the Canucks and Oilers could partner on a major trade.
New mock trade links the Edmonton Oilers to Vancouver Canucks star forward
A recent fan proposal has suggested that the Edmonton Oilers could offer multiple draft picks to land DeBrusk's services for next season.
DeBrusk, 29, has been a consistent 40 to 50 point player in his two NHL stops with the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks in his career.
He came to the Canucks hoping to take a major step towards being an elite NHL winger but has been unable to do so with the struggling Vancouver roster around him.
A move to Edmonton could provide the chance DeBrusk needs to become a truly elite power winger alongside either Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl.
As of now, it is unclear whether or not Oilers GM Stan Bowman is interested in DeBrusk but he is likely one of the better options the Oilers could add this summer.
As the situation continues to develop, we will pass along all of the latest news on DeBrusk's future in Vancouver and beyond.
