Former NHL forward Pat Maroon, who retired this year after 848 career games and 3 Stanley Cups, is back in hockey after joining the coaching staff of the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks.
3-time Stanley Cup winner Pat Maroon decided that this year
was his last in the NHL, and he retired following 848 career games.
But he's already back in hockey, albeit behind the bench. Maroon has been added to the coaching staff of the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks.
This year with the Blackhawks, Maroon had 19 points (5G, 14A) in 68 games, and leaves the NHL with 323 points (126G, 197A) in 848 career games.
He won the Stanley Cup with the Blues, made all the more special as he is originally from St. Louis. He also won back to back Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
Pat Maroon announced in March that he was retiring from the NHL
Maroon came to the difficult choice
to officially hang up the skates and retire, as he would announce to Blackhawks color analyst Darren Pang prior to a game against his former Blues teammates.
Sometimes you gotta give up everything you know, everything you've dreamed of your whole life. Just know it's time for me and it's time for my family to go start a new chapter in our lives.
I'm just gonna finish this year - every game's gonna be my last game. This is all I know... it's tough. It's hard to go through things like this, you can't really process it, but I think it's best for me and my family to go and start a new chapter.
During his career, he also played for the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild, and Boston Bruins.
