Connor Hellebuyck trade update confirmed for five teams by NHL analyst

The Connor Hellebuyck trade saga just got a little clearer, and it's not because of who wants him.

It's because of who has already said no thanks.

A new breakdown from NHL Trade Rumors lays out five teams that can be crossed off the list of potential landing spots for the Winnipeg Jets superstar, even with his trade demand now out in the open.

Toronto sits at the top of that list.

The Maple Leafs already have Anthony Stolarz and Sergei Bobrovsky locked in for the next few seasons, and that tandem just won a Stanley Cup together in Florida before Stolarz signed in Toronto.

Auston Matthews and Hellebuyck are close off the ice, but that friendship alone isn't enough to shake the Leafs out of their current setup between the pipes.

The Rangers are in the same boat.

Igor Shesterkin kept New York afloat for most of last season and there's zero appetite in the front office to go shopping for a new starter.

Tampa Bay is no different. Andrei Vasilevskiy still owns the crease, and while the Lightning could use an upgrade at backup, moving off their franchise goalie isn't on the table right now.

Tampa's real focus this month is getting Patrik Laine signed before training camp opens.

Ottawa is out too, and for a different reason entirely.

Hellebuyck holds a no movement clause through next July, and word around the league is he wants to land somewhere in the United States.

Right now the New Jersey Devils appear to be his preferred destination.

The Stars round out the list.

Hellebuyck reportedly likes the idea of playing in Dallas, but Jake Oettinger isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

If the Jets and Stars do end up connecting on a trade this offseason, it's expected to center on a top six forward rather than a goaltender swap.

The list of suitors is shrinking in one direction, even as trade calls keep pouring in from somewhere else entirely.
