Masterton Trophy winner Oskar Lindblom leaves the NHL for Europe

Today some surprising news has come out of Sweden regarding former Masterton Trophy winner Oskar Lindblom. According to reports the former San Jose Sharks forward has decided to head overseas and sign in Sweden.
Oskar Lindblom is most well known for his battle with cancer while he was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. The terrible disease took months of his career away. Thankfully he recovered and eventually returned to the Flyers. This led him to be named the Masterton Award winner.

The award is for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey
After leaving the Philadelphia Flyers Oskar Lindblom spent a couple of seasons with the San Jose Sharks. Now after spending much of the 2023-24 season in the AHL Oskar Lindblom will head to the SHL and play for Brynas IF.
Welcome home, Oskar Lindblom!
The 27-year-old forward returns to Gävle and Brynäs IF after seven seasons in North America.

While Oskar Lindblom never ended up being a top player in the NHL his story and journey during his NHL career will always be commendable. We wish him the best as he returns home to play in Sweden. Hopefully, he can have success there and potentially return to the NHL for one last run.
