Today the Toronto Maple Leafs have announced some much-anticipated news. The team has confirmed that they have fired their head coach Sheldon Keefe. Now the search begins for a new bench boss and one name has become a favorite.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had a disappointing end to the 2023-24 NHL season. An overtime loss to the Boston Bruins felt like the end of an era for the Maple Leafs. After disparaging comments from head coach Sheldon Keefe following the loss many predicted his time was up in Toronto.

"When teams play the Leafs, they set up the game for the Leafs to beat themselves."

Now Sheldon Keefe's firing has been officially confirmed. An announcement on X sealed Sheldon Keefe's fate and officially started the new search for a Toronto Maple Leafs head coach.

As for the future of the Toronto Maple Leafs one name has been connected to the team more than any other. Former St. Louis Blues head coach and 2019 Stanley Cup champion Craig Berube has been linked to the Maple Leafs since their season ended.

Now with the new era of the Toronto Maple Leafs officially under way, the next move expected is one involving Mitch Marner. For weeks Mitch Marner has been berated by Maple Leafs fans. If the team is going to restructure their core it likely begins with him.

As news of the new Toronto Maple Leafs head coach begins to surface we will provide that information to you.
