Heated altercation between Gary Bettman & NHL GM confirms the league's harmful secret

Under the reign of Gary Bettman, the business of the National Hockey League has been booming, and with the return of the international game, the sport of hockey is in very good hands moving forward.

However, there are many things that fans have continued to complain about regarding the NHL (lack of popularity, poor promotion, constant scheduling issues), and it appears as though that's not just limited to fans and analysts.

One of the biggest issues in recent times has been the NHL's Department of Player Safety, with the head of the department George Parros firing back after immense criticism came his way over the last week.

Now, according to Allan Walsh, we know that General Manager's aren't happy with the DoPS either, as the player agent has now revealed that at a recent meeting, one GM called out Gary Bettman for the league's relaxed standards on head shots, leading to a 'very heated argument'.

As of right now, it's unclear just who that GM was that stood up to Bettman, but the safe assumption is that he's not the only one that's upset with the league's relaxed standards and the inconsistency issues with the DoPS.

Ultimately, head shots were something the NHL was trying to outlaw in recent years, and while they're certainly not celebrated, the belief behind the scenes is that they aren't being punished enough, and now we'll wait to see whether or not this argument leads to significant change for Bettman and the league.
