"We're not going through an expansion process. Other than updating the board in October of the places that expressed interest, nothing else is gonna be done. Everything else was either speculation or had no basis."
It's a known fact that many cities are interested, such as Atlanta, Houston, and Quebec City.
The renowned Don Cherry didn't shy away from speaking his truth about which city would be the better market for the NHL.
He blatantly stated that he doesn't know why Quebec City doesn't have a team already, and that the frontrunner seems to be Atlanta.
In his own words:
"I still have no idea why there's no team in Quebec. It is the beautiful, lovely arena. Don't tell me that there's no money in Quebec City. Imagine (Montreal) Canadiens going (to play) in there."
"I remember going there with the Boston Bruins. And we always had fights in there, but I don't, I don't understand it. I don't understand why they're going back to Atlanta."
"That depends on a lot of factors that we don't control, including someone - or an entity - that is engaged enough and committed enough financially to want to even be considered and it hasn't happened yet."
The Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado in 1995, and fans have been hoping to see the NHL return to Quebec since then.
