Washington Capitals Fans React to Alex Ovechkin's 'Youthful' New Look

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has been criticized by many in his career for his appearance of some that may be out of shape, but year after year, he continues to prove people wrong after becoming the NHL's all-time greatest goal scorer in 2024/25.

With the captain nearing 40-years of age, there have been many questions over how long he can continue playing at the highest level, but as he proved this past season, he can still get it done.

Now, he has made an off-season appearance, with fans quickly noticing just how much Ovechkin's look has been transformed, as he has shaved his beard to give himself a much more youthful look, as shown by this photo surfacing on social media.

Sure, he doesn't quite look like he's in his 20's again, but after many suggested he may be getting too old to play in the NHL after the photos we saw of him last summer, this looks like a youthful, re-invigorated Ovechkin that is motivated to stay in the NHL for years to come.

Unsurprisingly, Capitals fans are thrilled at the new look for their captain, and after netting 44 goals in 65 games a season ago, he looks motivated to come back and go well beyond 900 career goals this season.

Currently, this season is the final one on Ovechkin's current contract, with plenty of speculation surrounding his future in the NHL, but if Ovi can turn back the clock again and ride another successful campaign, there's always a chance we'll see him play in the NHL well beyond the age of 40.
