Carter Hart Focused on NHL Return Despite Past Controversy, At Least Four Teams Reportedly Interested
Carter Hart's future in the NHL is up in the air, but with the intent on returning, at least four teams are showing interest in the former Flyers goaltender.
Once upon a time, Carter Hart was seen as one of the most promising young goaltenders in the National Hockey League, but after spending the last 18 months away from the game, it's been unclear whether we would see him in the league again.
Now that's he's cleared to return, there has been hope of a return to the NHL, and while Gary Bettman is yet to clear Hart to rejoin the NHL, all expectations are that at some point, he'll be given the opportunity to play again.
Teammates Say Hart Looks Ready for a Comeback
When he was healthy, Hart was one of the more promising players in the NHL, posting a 2.80 GAA and a .906 save percentage in the 2023/24 campaign through 26 appearances, the final one of his career to date.
At 27-years of age, there's still plenty of time for him to become a genuine starter in the NHL again, and now, according to the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast, there are 4 teams interested in him, with an announcement on his return to the NHL expected soon.
We are expecting an announcement within the next few weeks on Hart's road back into the NHL as there are a lot of teams who would bring him in on a PTO as at least 4 organizations have told us if he's cleaned to return we will bring him in.
Several NHL Teams Reportedly Open to Bringing Hart In
While no teams were named by the report, teams like Edmonton, Toronto and other contenders could make sense for the former Flyers star, and if he can prove he's up to the task of playing like he once did, he could be a genuine asset for a team.
Ultimately though, until something is made official, this is all speculation, but with an announcement expected soon, it wouldn't be a shock to see the 27-year old back on the ice again in 2025/26.
