Jake Oettinger Opens Up on Stars Trading Mason Marchment: "That One Hurts"

Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger opens up about the trade of ex-teammate Mason Marchment to the Seattle Kraken not long after their WCF loss, and admits that it stings.
The attempt by the Dallas Stars to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the 1st time since 2020 came up short once again against the Edmonton Oilers in the WCF, who won in 5 games.
The Stars have made multiple changes since then, not the least of which was the termination of coach Peter DeBoer after his controversial actions against goaltender Jake Oettinger in the deciding Game 5 loss against the Oilers.
But another move they made was sending forward Mason Marchment to the Seattle Kraken, something Oettinger admits that it hurt to see.

Oettinger opened up and let it be known that it's an empty feeling for him to have one of his closest friends traded and no longer on the same team, while also saying their respective wives are also close with one another.

In his last year with the Stars, Marchment scored 47 points (22G, 25A).

Close bonds are formed by professional athletes in their years together, considering how close they are in proximately to one another for as long as 10 months out of the year.
It's a bummer that the business side of hockey sometimes means friends must separate from each other and no longer wear the same sweater, as in the case of Oettinger and Marchment.
