Connor McDavid's future has been discussed plenty this off-season, and now he's expressed that his main desire is still to win with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Edmonton Oilers have been so close to reaching the pinnacle in the past few years, falling one and two games short of a Stanley Cup in 2024 and 2025, with the pursuit still on given the team has two of the best players in the entire league.
That pursuit would take a major hit if captain Connor McDavid were to depart the team, but this off-season, all signs have pointed to him signing some type of extension with the organization.

McDavid Stresses Commitment to Winning Before Contract Talks

While contract talks are still ongoing, McDavid isn't too worried about them, as he expressed his main desire with the organization in a recent interview at Team Canada's Olympic Camp.
"I have every intention to win in Edmonton."
That would signal that some type of extension is going to go down with the team, and while McDavid remains committed to the Oilers, he's not to worried if a deal doesn't get done in the coming weeks.

What Edmonton's Captain's Comments Mean for the Oilers' Future

What these comments mean is that at least in the short term (3-5 years), McDavid is likely to lock in for this team, and after some changes this off-season, the team remain optimistic over their chances at a Stanley Cup.
Ultimately though, we'll only know the details of an extension when the two parties come to an agreement, but after McDavid's recent comments, it's becoming more and more likely that a deal is going to get done before the 2025/26 campaign begins.
