More than six years after his last game in the NHL with the New York Islanders, controversial former first-round pick Josh Ho-Sang has hit a new low in his ice hockey career.

In the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, the New York Islanders surprised fans everywhere by using their first-round pick for rising forward Joshua Ho-Sung, pulling him in 28th overall.
However, after only playing only 53 games with the team and spending most his early career years in the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Ho-Sung was loaned away to Orebro HK in Sweden, not to return to the team's NHL level.
Instead of fighting his way back into the team's lineup, the Toronto native signed a PTO to earn his way into the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs over their 2021-22 preseason.
Unfortunately, he could not make it happen and consequently spent the season in the AHL with their affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
After only getting one game in the KHL the following season, Ho-Sung had no option but to fall back on the ECHL, signing with the Florida Everblades and subsequently helping the team pull of their third consecutive Kelly Cup win.
However, even with a new title fresh under his belt, the former first-round pick could not step up from the league, signing a deal with the Everblades for the rest of the season.
"Josh Ho-Sang has signed a deal with the Florida Everblades for the rest of the season. Ho-Sang, 29, had two goals, 15 points through 11 games played with Florida in the ECHL last season, as the team went on to win the Kelly Cup, the championship for the league. The 2014 28th-overall selection brings 53 games of NHL experience to the club."

Josh Ho-Sung has unfortunately not lived up to his early professional expectations, and at 29-years-old, it is unlikely he will advance back up the ladder beyond the ECHL.
Hopefully this season out in Florida will either make the rest of his career or let him know if it is time to hang up his skates.
