The New York Islanders have a talented squad thart just a few years ago appeared in back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals, but now, it appears they just can't catch a break.
According to General Manager Lou Lamoriello, defenseman
Alexander Romanov will now not be ready for the start of training camp, and while he'll be back at some point soon after, it's not a good sign.
The 23-year old underwent shoulder surgery this off-season, ahead of one of the most important seasons of his young career, and will now be racing the clock to get back for game one of the regular season.
He missed the final five games of the regular season, and while he did return for their first round playoff series, he recorded 0 points in those four games before the surgery.
In 2022-23 however, he recorded career highs in points with 22 and +/= with +13, so if the Islanders are to fight back to the playoffs through a crowded Eastern Conference, they'll need to get him healthy as soon as possible.
