Since St. Louis took over, there has been nothing but positive for the organization and the players. While he did not stack up the win column in his first year, he did however begin getting the best out of his players. We saw a vast improvement in players like Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki under St. Louis and we are expecting big things out of them this season.
The goal of the Canadiens this season is not to win, but to develop players. They are a young team full of talent and have the possibility to become star NHL players. They also have some veterans on the team that would like to show that they still have what it takes to be a high end player in this league. The recently acquired Sean Monahan who has been playing through injuries for a few years is a prime example of someone who has some into camp and wants to show he can still produce like he used to.
One major one who has been a Hab for awhile is Jonathan Drouin. Out of the gate, Drouin has had a hard time in Montreal, ever since being traded for now star defenceman Mikhail Sergachev. He was drafted 3rd overall, but has never quite lived up to the hype, even though we can all see he has the skill to do it.
The Canadiens were hoping to get a good return for Drouin in a trade this season, and were definitely hoping, like Caufield, that St. Louis would be able to get the best out of Drouin, but it doesn't look like things are starting well.
