Current Philadelphia Flyers player is NOT happy with the John Tortorella hiring
After finishing in the bottom 5 in the NHL this past season the Philadelphia Flyers have re-tooled their management and hired John Tortorella as their new head coach.
Tortorella's former player in Columbus Brandon Dubinsky had some choice words directed at his former coach in a backhanded tweet.
🙏🏻 for the @NHLFlyers players!— Brandon Dubinsky (@BDubi17) June 17, 2022
Zach Werenski, another Blue Jackets player, also responded to the hiring with a congratulations comment, but currently Flyers player Cam Atkinson was having none of it.
It will be interesting to see how Tortorella does in Philly, a controversial and outspoken coach, Tortorella is something of a journeyman, having coached the Columbus Bluejackets, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, whom he won a Stanley Cup with in 2004, Vancouver Canucks, and now Philidephia Flyers.
Tortorella is the first American-born NHL coach to reach 500 wins and has twice won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top coach.
The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a 4-year deal with John Tortorella to be their head coach, @KevinWeekes reported on Thursday. https://t.co/Q0LSbwKgEE— ESPN (@espn) June 16, 2022
