The Arizona Coyotes are a running joke, it's become an extended process. Between not being able to pay their players on-time, not paying their tax bill and now moving to a 5,000 or less seat arena. The team has found a way to give people more than enough material to push for the team to be moved out of South West and into a more viable market.
Last week the Coyotes and President, Xavier Gutierrez, held a meeting with players, staff and the NHLPA. According to Elliotte Friedman that meeting was described as "blunt" and likely left a poor taste in player's mouths.
Last Saturday the Coyotes held a meeting with their players, staff and Mathieu Schneider from the NHLPA. Friedman was told it was a really blunt meeting. Players asked a lot of questions about how they got to this point and what the future holds.
Gutierrez answered the questions, Schneider indicated 90% of the players won't be on the roster if & when the new building gets built, they feel really in the dark, if you don't build a rapport with these players now you'll get a reputation that you leave your players in the dark
Friedman called it a "really tough" meeting between the Coyotes and the players, it's pretty clear the players don't like this situation and they wish there were better answers they could get towards it.
Friedman doesn't think the NHLPA can block this move at all.
This situation continues to be an issue for both the league, players and everyone involved. Hopefully the NHL will come to the realization that this situation needs to be rectified and not simply ignored, like they've chose to do so far.
