The Blue Jackets are the youngest team in the NHL, at least when it comes to the number of games played by rookies. However, the future of one of their promising rookie forwards is now in question as he is reportedly considering leaving the team to go back home.
Dimitri Voronkov, a 4th round draft pick of the Jackets back in 2019, has been one of the team's best rookies this season despite limited ice time. He currently has 9 points through 15 games and has a plus-minus of zero, an impressive feat for a rookie on a bad team.
Voronkov has already proven himself to be a capable contributor in the KHL. Last season he had 18 goals and 31 points in 54 games with Ak Bars Kazan. A decision about his future with the Blue Jackets will likely come soon. He would be a significant loss for the Blue Jackets, who could use every young contributor they can get their hands on.
