BREAKING: Gary Bettman Strips Canadian Team Of Top Pick
Gary Bettman and the NHL have just stripped a Canadian franchise of a first-round pick following a trade disaster.
Sens Stripped Of First Round Pick
Insider Chris Johnston just revealed that the Ottawa Senators will be stripped of a first round pick.
The #sens have been docked a first-round draft pick by the NHL as punishment for their handling of the July 2021 Evgenii Dadonov trade with Vegas.
Ottawa will give up its first-rounder in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
The #sens have 24 hours after the conclusion of the draft lottery to indicate if they will surrender the pick that year.
This is the penalty the Senators will face for not disclosing Evgeni Dadonov's NTC to the Vegas Golden Knights. The Sens will now be without one of their top assets and will likely wait as long as possible to give up the pick as they are a team on the rise.
This could potentially put GM Pierre Dorion's job in danger and it could lead to his firing.
