The Patrick Kane sweepstakes appear as though they will be entering their finale very soon, as he has been rumoured to be choosing between two teams, the Buffalo Sabres and the Detroit Red Wings.
Kane has connections to both teams. He is from Buffalo, which makes the Sabres a good option for him to return home in the last few seasons of his career. Alternatively, Kane has expressed interest in rekindling his relationship with Alex DeBrincat who is on the Detroit Red Wings.
It's not known what Kane is looking for exactly in terms of his next deal. Even if it is a 1-year deal, it will likely come with a pretty substantial cap hit. However, both teams could benefit from Kane's instant offensive production. Detroit, looking to end their playoff drought, could use Kane's leadership to help them get there.
