Cole Hutson, the young brother of Montreal Canadiens defenseman and former Calder Trophy winner Lane Hutson, has signed with the Washington Capitals.

There have been several sets of brothers in the NHL over the last several decades. Currently, the most notable siblings in the NHL are Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, along with Quinn, Jack and Luke Hughes, along with Nick and Marcus Foligno.
Now, there is a new set of brothers in the NHL thanks to a recent contract signing by the Washington Capitals.
Defenseman Cole Hutson, who is the brother of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson, has signed an entry-level deal with the Capitals starting this season.

The Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract beginning this season. Hutson's contract will carry an average annual value of $975,000. - Washington Capitals

Cole Hutson Is The Brother Of Dynamic Montreal Canadiens Defenseman And Former Calder Trophy Winner Lane Hutson

Hutson was taken by the Capitals with the 43rd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. He's shown that like his brother Lane, he has an offensive knack despite being a defenseman.
Per his scouting report via Elite Prospects, Hutson's passing skills are among his attributers.
Cole Hutson has the 1-on-1 game at the point down to a science. A lateral slide, a hesitation move, and he gets past the first layer of defence. He drives down the faceoff circle, fakes a shot, and sends the perfect cross-ice pass to the talented shooter sitting inside space on the other flank. - Elite Prospects

So far this year with Boston University, Hutson has 32 points (10G, 22A) in 35 games played. He also played for Team USA during the World Junior Championships.
