The historic debut of ex-Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann in a Seattle Kraken sweater has confirmed what everyone is thinking about coach Craig Berube.
As part of the trade deadline last week, the Toronto Maple Leafs parted ways with a pair of assets.
Bobby McMann, who had scored a career-best 19 goals at the time of his trade, was sent to the Seattle Kraken. And Scott Laughton, who they acquired last year for a considerable haul from the Philadelphia Flyers, was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
McMann has already made an incredible impact on the Kraken, scoring twice in his debut in a Seattle sweater in their win over the lowly Vancouver Canucks. He also had an assist, becoming the first player since Rasmus Sandin with the Washington Capitals in 2023 to have three points in their debut with a new club after being traded.
This is driving Maple Leafs fans crazy, who are already near their wits end thanks to the miserable year they've had, and many are pointing the finger at head coach Craig Berube.
Right now, the Maple Leafs would miss the postseason for the first time since 2016 if they began today.
Bobby McMann Was Happy To Make A Good First Impression On The Kraken
McMann was happy to make a good first impression on the Kraken, and said that it reminded him of playing in his first NHL game.
It almost resembles, in a way, your first (NHL) game. Like, you've got an entirely new group, new organization, new fans. You want to make a great first impression. Sometimes things go your way a little bit more than other nights, (and) luckily that was tonight for me. - Bobby McMann
Thanks to his pair of goals, McMann is now up to 21 goals on the year, already a new career-best.
