Carter Hart Makes First Public Comments After Coming to Terms With the Vegas Golden Knights
New Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart has made his first public statement since signing a deal to return to the NHL since last playing with the Flyers.
The NHL reinstated Carter Hart, allowing him to sign a new contract, but he won't be eligible to play until December.
Hart has found his next professional destination, signing a 2 year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights.
The contract is said to be a paid tryout that can be converted into a contract, and he'll be eligible to start playing for the Golden Knights when the calendar turns to December.
It's been a long road to get back to this point, to get back to the game of hockey. The game that I love. I've been out of the game for a year and a half now. I've learned a lot, I've grown a lot, and I'm just excited to move forward. - Carter Hart
Hart, who was taken 48th overall by the Flyers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, is 96-93-29 in his NHL career with a 2.94 GAA, and a .906 SV% with 6 shutouts. He had been linked to other teams, including the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Golden Knights Have Also Released a Statement
After they were met with considerable backlash for signing Hart, the Golden Knights put out a
statement of their own, saying they're committed to their core values they've defined since Day 1.
Following the reinstatement decision agreed on by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association, goaltender Carter Hart will be joining the Vegas Golden Knights organization.
The Golden Knights are aligned with the process and assessment the NHL and NHLPA made in their decision. We remain committed to the core values that have defined our organization from its inception and expect that our players will continue to meet these standards moving forward.
