Rick Tocchet moved on from the Canucks this off-season, and now, veteran goaltender Thatcher Demko has called him out for it.

The Vancouver Canucks have undergone plenty of change this off-season, but perhaps the biggest of all was behind the bench, as Rick Tocchet took off to join the Philadelphia Flyers in the same role.
They replaced him with Adam Foote, and with the team now clear of internal drama and injuries, there's plenty of optimism moving forward that they can bounce back and be a Stanley Cup Playoffs contender once again in 2025/26.

Thatcher Demko calls out his former Head Coach

For the most part, the Canucks roster simply moved on after the departure of Tocchet, as Foote has been a key piece of their coaching staff, with the belief being that he can step right in and help this team bounce back moving forward.
However, Thatcher Demko wasn't one of those people, as he made recent comments on Tocchet, noting that many were surprised he just took off, throwing his support behind his new Head Coach, 'Footy'.
I think everyone was pretty shocked that Rick took off.

I'm not really going to speak on that because it's in the past now. But I think Footy is a guy that would lace up the skates and go kill a penalty tomorrow if he could. He loves the game, loves the hard parts of the game, and I think that's a huge, huge thing for our team. Just maybe be a little bit grittier and be committed to doing the hard things.
It's no surprise that players have thrown their support behind Foote, as the belief is that Tocchet pushed his way into the role, pushing Bruce Boudreau out in the process, and just a few years later, was quick to jump ship for the first opportunity that came up.
Now, we wait to see whether or not it was the right move for Tocchet to make, and if the sentiment in Vancouver is anything to go by, it wasn't.
