Late in the game last night, as the Canucks were only down by two goals, head coach Rick Tocchet refused to pull the team's goalie for an extra attacker.

There are already rumors going around as to whether or not Rick Tocchet will return as Vancouver Canucks head coach, as the team can exercise the final year of his contract at the end of the season.
The strongest signal came when Tocchet came out and said he would not negotiate a contract with general manager Patrik Allvin and the team until after the season is over.
Flash forward to last night's game, in a crucial game against a league-leading team, the Canucks faced a mountain to overcome.
To their dismay, with the game running out, a pricey blunder by Tocchet resulted in a breakdown on the bench, which led to a too-many-men penalty, with seven Canucks on the ice at once.
Canucks have seven men on the ice and get a penalty virtually killing their comeback chance.

They shoot themselves in the foot to end things which is an appropriate symbol for this season.

Behind by two goals, the blunder pretty much sealed their fate, rendering a late-game comeback virtually impossible and further snuffing their already slim playoff hopes.

Thatcher Demko was ready to come out of his net, but Tocchet wouldn't budge

In an insult to injury, Tocchet seemed to have given up, opting not to take goalie Thatcher Demko out of the game in the third period in an attempt to tie the game.
Instead of battling until the final whistle, Tocchet seemed to concede defeat, raising serious doubts about his desire to remain behind the Canucks' bench next season.
