Rick Tocchet's time in Vancouver could be coming to an end, and now a top insider reveals what the team must do to keep Rick Tocchet behind the bench.
While many believe that Tocchet could extend his contract with the Vancouver Canucks, that's no guarantee, as the up-and-down, dramatic nature of this season has thrown his future into question.
Usually, it's a coach that's struggled that needs to justify himself to a team, but according to insider Rick Dhaliwal, it's the Canucks that need to find some answers before the off-season to convince him to stay beyond 2024/25.
"There are so many «ifs» with this hockey club, and he's going to want some answers. It's up to them-when they sit down with him after the season, they better be prepared. Because as Seravalli is saying every week, he's saying it for a reason. This guy's going to walk. And I think the Canucks have one hell of a sell job to do after this season to bring him back."
Thankfully for Vancouver, they've got some very solid selling points with the likes of
Elias Pettersson and
Quinn Hughes, but one spot they need to upgrade is their centre depth, as there are many question marks beyond EP40 at that spot.
How they upgrade their team and answer some of those questions will depend on whether or not Tocchet commits to being the team's Head Coach, making the next few months crucial to the future of the Canucks, as we could be in for many, many changes moving forward.
